New Delhi: Telugu actor Vijay Devarakonda and Ananya Pandey starrer ‘Liger’, a sports action film, hit the theaters on August 25. Vijay Devarakonda made his debut in Bollywood with this film which was released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam languages.
Directed by Puri Jagannath, the film was widely recognized after its release. Almost a month after its first release, ‘Liger’ is now available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar for those who missed it in theatres. As of 22 September midnight, the film was accessed on the OTT platform along with the Hindi version in four languages spoken in South India.

There are reports that Disney+ Hotstar has paid Rs 65 crore for the rights of Vijay-Ananya film. Several media outlets claimed that Star Ma channel has acquired the satellite rights to telecast ‘Liger’.
Dharma Productions, run by Bollywood heavyweight Karan Johar, has released action drama ‘Liger’. The film received negative reviews from critics and moviegoers. On its first day in theaters, action film ‘Liger’ collected Rs. 33.12 crore earned.
Due to the film’s poor performance at the box office, it is speculated that Devarakonda may return Rs 6 crore as compensation to the film’s producers. Rumors were also rife that her next project with Puri Jagannath would be shelved.
In the film, a young man (played by Vijay Devarakonda) and his widowed mother (played by Ramya Krishnan) travel from Telangana to Mumbai so that she can see her son compete in the National MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Championship.
‘Arjun Reddy’ actor Vijay underwent MMA training in Thailand to play the role. Meanwhile, on the professional front, Vijay Deverakonda is busy with his next film ‘Khushi’, which also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Rashi Khanna.
Meanwhile, Ananya Pandey is set to star opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in the sequel of ‘Dream Girl 2’. She finished shooting her scenes in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Ko Gaye Hum Kahaan’ opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gaurav.
