Week 1 3 NFL Predictions

One of the model’s strongest Week 3 NFL picks covers the Bengals (-4.5) going on the road against the Jets. Six teams had fewer sacks than the Jets last year and have the same statistical ranking in sacks this year. The lack of pressure on Joe Burrow should allow him to pick up the Jets’ secondary, as New York has allowed opposing quarterbacks with a 100-plus passer rating this season. Burrow is projected to top 300 passing yards and toss several touchdown passes, while Ja’Mar Chase has nearly 100 yards in receptions.

The model doesn’t expect any Jets player to top 60 receiving yards. In fact, New York lost by two scores, covering the Bengals (-4.5) almost 60 percent of the time.

Another of the model’s Week 3 NFL predictions: Seahawks (-2) includes the spread at home against the Falcons. Geno Smith isn’t the long-term answer at QB for the Seahawks, but he’s a short-term solution. He has gone an astounding 9-1 against the spread in his last 10 starts, with a 13:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio over that span. His 81% completion percentage leads the NFL this season and is nearly 20 points higher than Marcus Mariota.

Smith plays a more efficient game than Mariota in the model and the Seahawks put up over 130 yards on the ground averaging five yards per carry. With that, Seattle is expected to be a 2-point favorite in more than 50 percent of simulations, with the over (42) hitting over 50 percent. Here are some other teams to choose from,
