Popular Front of India (PFI), an Islamist organization in Kerala, has called for a state-wide shutdown to protest the NIA raids. The Kerala High Court condemned this move by PFI. In this case, the High Court said that no one can hold bandh voluntarily and without permission.
The Kerala High Court, “in its order dated January 7, 2019, said that no one can hold bandh in the state without giving seven days prior notice.” The court has directed the state government to take strict action against the violators of this order. Damage to public property is unacceptable, the court said. It also said that immediate action should be taken against the incidents of violence in the state.
