MLS teams continued their dominance of Liga MX as FC Cincinnati defeated Chivas 3-1 in a League Cup showcase match on Wednesday night.

Second-half goals from Yuya Gubo, Calvin Harris and Brandon Vasquez offset an early strike from Chivas’ Pavel Perez at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati.

Perez fired a shot from distance in the 20th minute that took a deflection and wrong-footed Cincinnati’s Alec Gunn before the teams left the field for a long time before a weather delay.

When the weather cleared and the race resumed, it was all Cincinnati.

Dominic Badji set up Kubo for the home side in the 55th minute, followed by a fine strike by Harris and a shot by Cincinnati’s leading goalscorer Vazquez, who completed the rally.

With Seattle Sounders FC winning this year’s CONCACAF Champions League, three of the last four Champions Cup finals and the last two All-Star Games, MLS has had a solid run over its neighbors to the south in Liga MX in recent years.
