In 2017, he played for both the Great Lakes Loons and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In 25 games (24 starts) for both teams, he had a combined record of 9-6, a 3.63 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. In 2018, he was named to the All-Star team for the Quakes in the California League. On September 14, he started the title-winning playoff game for the Drillers. He gave up two runs over five innings. His main pitches are a two-seam fastball, which moves like a sinker and averages 98 miles per hour, a cutter, a curveball and a four-seam fastball. He ranked 4th among starting pitchers in 2020 for lateral movement ability, unusual for a pitcher whose two-seam fastballs or sinkers average 93 mph.
