A University of Utah student was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly threatened to blow up a nuclear reactor on campus if the Utes football team lost to San Diego State over the weekend, according to radio station KSL in Utah.
According to the Salt Lake Country Sheriff’s Office, the 21-year-old student has been charged with making a terroristic threat. He was booked and released on Wednesday.
According to a police affidavit obtained by KSL, the woman allegedly posted on social media that if the Utes lost Saturday’s game, she would “detonate and devastate the nuclear reactor located at the University of Utah.” The woman had knowledge of the reactor and attended classes in the same building where it was located, police said in the affidavit.
In Utah’s 35-7 win over San Diego State on Saturday, quarterback Cam Rising threw for 224 yards and four touchdown passes.
